Focal Point Business Coaching

The body reaps what the mind sows, and your business reaps what you put into it. You need a focal point – like when a photographer chooses the central subject of a picture, the primary object on which all eyes focus. The focal point of your business is the central concept of your business, the idea that drives your enterprise and dictates what direction your business will follow. Have you even been driving your car across a bridge and then turned your head to look out over the side at the view? What usually happens is that your car drifts in the direction that you're looking? As the driving force behind your business, you need to stay focused on your goal – if you are, then everything else will follow.

Big picture thinking is important, but focusing is powerful. If your focus is on increasing your revenue from $5 million to $10 million, then that's the direction you're steering your business. Even successful business leaders make the mistake of splitting their focus among too many disparate goals. It's not difficult to fall into this trap – running a business requires a great deal of multi-tasking, and you often find yourself managing a chaotic assemblage of problems, tasks and appointments. It's easy to lose focus on your immediate goals. Think of how much time is spend each day just running your business – it often feels as if there's no time left to focus on any one goal.

One way to achieve laser-like focus on your business goal is to hire a business coach, whose job is to help you and your organization achieve your objectives. Unlike a busy executive, the business coach doesn't have the chaos of working in the organization on a daily basis. Like a Blackberry or Palm Pilot on steroids, a good business coach will help you define what the company requires and how to achieve it.

Imagine how much more your business could achieve if you had someone that would help you focus on your goals. Most people have to go on a vacation to mentally relax, refresh and remind themselves of their focus. As soon as the vacation is over, though, that focus gets lost because they're back to running the everyday chaos of their business. It’s a vicious cycle that, if it's not stopped, will continue over and over again until retirement. Be a leader – take action now by committing to focused thinking. Nobody achieves success on their own; so consider using a business coach to help you take your organization from merely good to great.
